Sacred Heart senior forward Teagan Ketchum was summoned to center ice before Saturday’s game against St. Anselem to take part in the ceremonial pre-game puck drop. Little did she know what was about to happen.

As she skated to the face-off circle, her brother Trevor, a Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class, emerged from the penalty box to surprise his sister 14 months after they last saw one another.

Trevor arrived in town late Friday night and will be returning to base in Hawaii on Tuesday. Teagan was under the impression she wouldn’t see her brother next until her graduation.

“There were a lot of emotions,” Teagan told the Connecticut Post afterward. “I haven’t seen him in a while. Hockey has always been our common bond. I started playing hockey because of him. He’s always been that figure for me, who I aspire to be.”
