LSU running back Leonard Fournette’s status for Week 5 could be up in the air until the game starts.

Interim coach Ed Orgeron said Wednesday during the SEC teleconference that Fournette would likely be a game-time decision. LSU plays Missouri on Saturday evening.

“It’s up in the air now,” Orgeron said (Via NOLA.com). “Can’t say. In all likelihood he will try to play. It will be a game-time decision. Obviously, if there’s further injury we won’t play him.”

Fournette re-injured his left ankle late in the Tigers’ Week 4 loss to Auburn. Fournette was hit by an Auburn defender and after he fell to the ground his ankle briefly twisted awkwardly when he was hit by another.

He initially injured the ankle in a preseason scrimmage and sat out the team’s Week 2 game vs. Jacksonville State after being helped off the field late in the Tigers’ Week 1 loss to Wisconsin.

If Fournette can’t go, Derrius Guice is his likely replacement. Guice has 29 carries for 239 yards and a score in 2015. Fournette leads the team with 67 carries for 386 yards and two touchdowns. His 5.8 yards per carry through three games is down from the 6.5 yards per carry he averaged in 2015.
