Mysterious bag of Jose Fernandez baseballs washes ashore in Miami
The tragic death of Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez sent shockwaves through the baseball community. Teammates grieved the player they loved, while opponents paid tribute to the competitor they respected. The Marlins played their first game without Fernandez on Monday, and given the circumstances surrounding his death, it proved to be an emotional affair. Prior to that game being played, however, Fernandez’s story became even more heartbreaking.
Hours before first pitch, a bag containing baseballs signed by Fernandez washed ashore about a mile away from the crash scene.

According to Rosh Lowe of WSVN TV, the bag contained four balls signed by Fernandez, as well as the 24-year-old’s checkbook.
The bag is believed to have belonged to one of the men on the boat, possibly Fernandez.
