A look around the league and the Web that covers it. It’s also important to note that the rotation order and starting nods aren’t always listed in order of importance. That’s for you, dear reader, to figure out.

C: VICE Sports. David Roth on Philadelphia 76ers fans, on overarching idea and a flesh-and-blood human being who looks to be worth the wait, on the power of belief and the promise of a rich reward now finally (hopefully) just around the bend.

PF: The Washington Post. Candace Buckner with a great profile of Scott Brooks that lends insight into what’s made him a basketball lifer and how his forced “sabbatical” year away from the game helped prepare him for his next challenge: getting the Washington Wizards past mediocrity and up to the level of Eastern Conference contention.

SF: The Ringer. Danny Chau on how good DeMar DeRozan and his team are, and how good they can be: “How much you believe in the Toronto Raptors as a viable championship contender depends on your willingness to bring a knife to a gunfight.”

SG: The Indianapolis Star. Gregg Doyel on how special Myles Turner and Paul George looked together on opening night, and why what that tandem showed against the Dallas Mavericks should be enough to make Indiana Pacers fans “mash the gas pedal and start to dream.”

PG: Bleacher Report. Howard Beck on the relationship between Jeremy Lin and Kenny Atkinson, a bond forged over early-morning workouts when the former was the 15th man on the New York Knicks and the latter was the junior assistant on Mike D’Antoni’s staff, and that now will serve as the basis for whatever the Brooklyn Nets might be able to become.

7th: Sports Illustrated. Rob Mahoney following Tony Allen around a construction site is even more fun than it sounds like.

8th: The Undefeated. Marc J. Spears on the declining prevalence of white American players in the NBA.

9th: B/R Mag. Howard Beck and Jonathan Abrams talk to a slew of NBA stars about he issue of protesting the national anthem — and, primarily, about why many don’t seem all that interested in doing it.

10th: Downtown Ball. Finally, at long last, the secret motivation that fueled Michael Jordan’s rise has been revealed. I have to say: there’s way more swordfighting and kicking than I expected.
